Exploring New
Landscapes for Design.

Mikko Kutvonen (M.A. IDBM), multidisciplinary design strategist.
I'm here to embed the power of design to your work.

Building Design Thinking on Every Project.

I take pride in my expertise to shape and facilitate design initiatives that pave the way for change. This means bringing a combination of customer empathy and real-life experimentation to every project.

My goal is to help organizations to discover novel ways to innovate. I want to unite service design approaches and collaborative processes into broad based practices that make sense. By crafting capabilities of design on each project, I help you to accelerate change and innovation.

Currently I’m working as a city designer at Design-Driven City - a forward-looking initiative striving to integrate the power of city design in the urban development. By working closely with wide range of disciplines, I help public institutions to make transformations and be more customer-oriented.

Facilitating Human-Driven Change Through Design.

My approach boils down to three core areas: co-creation, rapid experimentation and customer-orientation. Together they help to face social dilemmas and shape integrated service experiences.

Explorative Co-Creation

Envisioning challenges through cross-collaboration enables to conceive divergent ideas and synthesize complexity. For this reason I want to establish open culture and engage multiple perspectives on each stage of the design process. This is also where participatory approaches come in and help building relationships and exchange ideas.

Rapid Experimentation

Exploring ideas in real life allows testing ideas in agile way. Therefore, my objective is to incorporate practical experiments as a way to validate foundational assumptions behind the ideas. For the same reason, I like to deploy lean principles and iterative improvement to steer continuous learning and to get things done in new ways.

People Perspective

Embedding human-perspective to problem solving can expose game changing insights. That’s why I’m curious to explore each challenge from behavioral perspective on the very beginning. Together, user-oriented principles and deep customer empathy also help to explore user experiences and set direction for well-designed solutions.
